What do I do when I exceed my H: drive quota?

File storage (Quota)

All user accounts have an allocated amount of storage space for personal files.

This is listed as the H: drive when you log in to a university managed desktop.

All staff and students have an initial H: drive quota size of 1GB.

Each morning our systems scan for H Drives that are low on space. If the quota is under 10GB, it will be automatically increased by 1GB and an email will let you know this has happened.


Before requesting an increase you should first remove unwanted files or personal files such as music or photos.

Staff Quota Request

All staff are allocated 1GB by default which can be increased on request, without charge, in 1GB increments.

The maximum allowed quota is currently 10GB.


Student Quota Request

Students are allocated 1GB by default which can be increased on request, without charge, in 512MB increments.

The maximum quota is currently 5GB.
