Student Printing Facilities - 2016 Refresh

Following 4 years of development of the Managed Print Service we have carefully considered the requirements of our customers in a range of hardware and software upgrades to the Student Print Estate that are expected to be completed by the end of Oct 2016. These improvements include:

  • All student MFDs to include the Nuance Autostore application to provide Scan to folder/Light Touch Scanning capability straight to your H: drive.
  • All student MFDs to be standardised upon a Kyocera hardware platform
  • Over 95% of the Student Print Estate to be colour and duplex capable
  • All A3/A4 student MFDs to include a staple function
  • All A3 student MFDs to include advanced finishing options including manual and automatic staple, stack and hole punch
  • All A3 student MFDs to include a keyboard to aid input of ITS Username and Password for manual login
  • All A3 MFDs to recieve a 10/20 pages per minute speed increase
  • All A4 MFDs to recieve a 14 pages per minute speed increase
  • All A4 MFDs to recieve a doubling of print resolution to 1200dpi
  • All A3 and A4 MFDs to offer improved touchscreens and intergrated ID card readers
  • All A3 and A4 MFDs to offer enhanced paper and toner/waste toner capacity to provde longer run times and higher availability levels
  • All MFDs to utilise a unified tray locks model - Thus aiding device support
  • Expansion into new locations across campus including WMS Cafe and WBS 2nd Floor
  • Increased reslience through enhanced device headcount within B052 at Gibbet Hill
  • The fitment of paper de-humidifiers to reduce the occurance of annoying paper jams and wasted consumables
  • Improved paper paths and cleaner running, thus improving reliability and quality of output to our customers
  • More modern Blue Angel and Energy Star compatible hardware, thus reducing power consumption and our carbon footprint
