I get an error when trying to download software (via 'Secure Download Manager') using a non-English system language

The Secure Download Manager (SDM) is a program for downloading files securely from several WebStores (hosted by Kivuto) used to distribute software at Warwick, such as VMware Academic Program and Microsoft Imagine Premium. When you download software from a WebStore that uses the SDM, you will be prompted to download and install the SDM to your computer.

We have been made aware of an issue where an error message stating a "mswishcorlib recursive resource lookup bug" can occur if the system language on the computer is a language other than English.

You can fix this by adding English to your system languages and switching to it as the display language (instructions here). After installation, you can switch back to your preferred language.
