Software Licence Management Strategy

The IT Services department aims to provide services and capabilities commensurate with a world leading University in order to support 'Vision 2015: A Strategy for Warwick.'

The Software Licence Management Service aims to support the University's wider strategy by:

  • Continually evaluating requirements with regard academic software. This ensures software for which there is reduced demand is retired and applications for which there is emerging demand is provided; ensuring appropriate use of central funds to provide the software tools required for world-leading teaching and research.
  • Ensure the procurement of any new software agreements/renewals are conducted in line with the University's financial regulations.
  • Work with the IT Services Governance Service Board to understand requirements and priorities from within ITS and the wider University community.
  • Ensuring centrally-licensed software can be obtained quickly and easily by staff and students across the University via downloads (including on home machines where licence agreements permit).
  • Respond to any and all licensing queries/software support requests in a timely, professional and courteous manner.
  • Promote and help departments understand their responsibilities regarding compliance with licensing terms and conditions.
