e:Vision Module Registration Feedback 2009

Thanks to everyone who filled in this form – please see the Feedback Results page to see an analysis of the responses received.

Our old module registration system, OMR, is being replaced by module registration direct into the university’s Student Records system through e:Vision (the web interface provided by the suppliers of the Student Records system). The change is being piloted in four departments for 2009/10.

OMR had the advantage of an intuitive user interface, but internally it had come to the end of its maintainable life. Its underlying data structure had diverged from the University’s Student Record system and it had become impossible to support reliably. In addition, keeping it in sync with Student Records was causing delays of up to two days in updating student data and was putting an undue burden on the University’s computer systems.

The new module registration system is part of the SITS Student Records system which has been adapted for use at Warwick (for instance allowing you to choose your own method of assessment where appropriate). This means that your data will always be consistent between module registration and Student Records. In addition, you will no longer need to wait for up to two days to see your choices reflected in your timetable – this will normally be updated on the morning following your changes.

We are keen to get feedback from students so that we can continue to improve the system. Once you have tried it out, we would therefore be grateful if you could answer the questions below.
