Move pages
When you move a page, every sub-page and file below it moves with the topmost page. Moving a page does not rename existing links in your body content. Therefore, it's best to check for broken links after moving a page.
- Browse to the page you wish to move.
- Go to Edit > More, and select the Current page tab.
- In the Manage page box, select Move this page. The URL of the page you're moving is at the top of the screen.
-
In the New URL box, enter the URL of the target parent page you want to move your page under. Omit
https://warwick.ac.uk
– for example, to move a page under the IT Services home page enter:/services/its
Alternatively, use the page picker to browse to and select the new location. You now see the relative URL in the New URL box.
- To automatically redirect visitors to the New URL, select the Forward requests for checkbox. Doing so inserts a forwarding page at the old location and prevents visitors seeing a ‘page not found’ error message.
-
Choose how search engines index the moved pages by selecting an option from the Allow search engines drop-down list:
- Keep current settings
- Hide renamed pages in searches
- Show renamed pages in searches
Your choice applies to all pages and files under the current page.
-
Choose the permissions for the moved pages by selecting an option from the Permissions drop-down list – note that your choice applies to all the pages and files you're moving:
- Keep current settings
- Remove view permissions from renamed pages (contributor, edit and admin permissions are not affected)
- Select Move page.
