Windows users can access the RDS service in two ways:
Remote App - This option provides a list of the available applications in a web browser window. Applications selected by the user are launched on the remote server and displayed on the user’s computer in their own application window as though running locally on the user’s computer. The RemoteApp option can only be used by people with a Windows computer using Internet Explorer since it requires ActiveX to be enabled.
- Remote Desktop - This option provides access to a full remote desktop session on the remote server and displays it on the user’s computer. Applications are launched from the start menu, and displayed, within this remote desktop session. This option can be used by anyone with a Windows computer.
Note: Remote App is the recommended way to connect to RDS if you have a computer with Windows and are using Internet Explorer and have ActiveX enabled.
