The information below is for all registered Library customers, providing a quick practical guide to using the Library.

My Library Account

This is your main, personal, online portal to the Library.

  • Renew loans
  • Pay charges
  • Check the status of holds
  • Click and Collect requests
  • View reading history and more

Also accessible from Library Search and Classic Catalogue when you are logged in.

Find resources

Many resources are available electronically and can be found using Library Search or through one of the many subject specialist databases. You will also find resources for your studies on your departmental reading lists.

In the main Library building print resources are organised according to subjects:

  • Floors 1 & 2: Helpdesk, Teaching Grid and Co-Creation space
  • Floor 2 Extension: Sciences
  • Floor 3: Arts
  • Floor 3 Extension: Arts, Wolfson Research Exchange
  • Floor 4: Education, Law, Government Publications and Statistics
  • Floor 5: Social Sciences

Missing resources

If you are unable to locate a book, journal or other shelved materials on the Library shelves please complete a missing resources form. You can also place a Click and Collect request and a member of staff will search for the item on your behalf.

Renewals

You can renew your books using the self-issue machines on Floor 1 or online via your My Library Account.

Reserve an item / place a Click and Collect request

If you wish to reserve an item you can 'place a Click and Collect request. This will ensure we place the book aside for you. If all copies of a title are on loan, you can place a Click and Collect request and the next returned copy will be held for you.

Click and Collect

All current staff and students can order up to 10 print books using our using our Click and Collect service via Library Search, or an online form, and then pick up their items from the Click and Collect collection point ion Floor 1 (as a reserved item) every day during Library opening hours.

Get it For Me

A free service available to all current Warwick Staff and Students which enables us to:

  • Send Warwick Library books to you in the post
  • Provide individuals with a scanned copy of one chapter of a monograph, or one article per issue of a journal
  • Obtain items not held in Warwick stock from other libraries (we cannot post books from other libraries so these need to be collected in person)

Proxy Borrowing service

The Proxy Borrowing service allows another student at Warwick to borrow/collect books on your behalf at the Helpdesk.

Recalls

To provide fair access to resources we may ask you to bring your books back before the due date if somebody else wants them (known as recalls). If you do not return the book within a week of getting the recall notice we will block your Library account. If the book is not returned within two weeks of the recall notice we will assume it is lost and invoice you for the cost of replacement.

Overdues

No fines are charged for overdue books unless someone has placed a click and collect request on the item you are currently borrowing. We will also automatically renew your books on your behalf.

Lost books

If you think you have lost a book please complete a lost book form. If you think you have returned a book to the Library but it is still showing on your Library Account, please complete a claim returned form.

You may want to take advantage of our Library Stores, where we house materials which are in less demand but still of value.

University Card entitlements

Your University card provides access to the Library, as well as access to e-resources such as e-books and e-journals. Note that non-credit bearing courses and Alumni access does not entitle you to access to e-resources. See the full list.

Eikon

The Eikon computer is available throughout Library opening hours. Sessions must be booked in advance.

Freepost returns

All current Warwick staff and students in the UK can post books back to us, free of charge, using our freepost returns service - Collect + freepost service.

Eligibility

  • This service is for all staff and students, and for returns from the UK only.

How to return your books

  • Please carefully package any University of Warwick Library items into one parcel. We are unable to cover the costs of the packaging, just the postage cost
  • Use the portal to generate a one-off label or QR code
  • If you have questions about the portal or an issue with the freepost service please contact library at warwick dot ac dot uk
  • Drop off the parcel at your nearest Collect+ point. These can be found by checking the store locator
  • When we receive the items we will process these and clear the items from your account

Here is some information to help you pack your parcel(s):

  • Weight up to 10kgs per parcel
  • Maximum dimension: 60cm x 50cm x 50cm
  • If you have a lot of books you are welcome to send them in multiple parcels

We appreciate you may not have scales to guide you in packing your books so the following info may help: a pile of 7 paperback and hardback books weighs around 5kg. So depending on size and the packing materials you have available you may be able to fit up to 10 books in a single parcel.

  • If you need to send your books in multiple parcels please enter your email address more than once to the portal to download different labels to attach to each of your parcels.
  • If you have any issues with the service, including the service rejecting the size or weight of the parcel, please contact library at warwick dot ac dot uk.

Accessible Study Rooms

Bookable rooms in the main Library, and Postgrad Hub (for PG students) are open to students registered with Disability Services.

RNIB Bookshare

Students with a print disability are able to access RNIB Bookshare , an online catalogue of educational texts in accessible formats. Eligibility includes visual impairment, autism, AD(H)D, dyslexia, dyspraxia or a physical disability which affects the use of print material.

IT support

  • For general IT support such as how to print from your laptop in the Library or any other printing support, please visit IT services. print, copy and scan
  • IT Services provide an AV equipment borrowing service. Please visit IT Services for more information
  • If the IT Services helpdesk is closed, you can find a large number of useful leaflets online

Book binding

Individual dissertation/thesis book binding services are provided by Warwick Print and the University Bookshop.
