Code of Conduct

We are endeavouring to provide you with a learning environment acceptable to all and ask for your co-operation in maintaining an atmosphere that positively contributes to everyone's ability to study.

We ask you to be considerate to others and note the following guidelines:

Floor 1:

  • You may use your mobile phone and your laptop anywhere on this floor
  • You may drink hot and cold drinks and eat cold snacks. If you wish to eat hot food, please go to Cafe Library

Floor 2:

  • You may use your mobile phone and your laptop in the main building but not in the extension building
  • You may drink hot and cold drinks and eat cold snacks in the main building but not in the extension building. If you wish to eat hot food, please go to Cafe Library

Quiet Study Areas and upper floors:

  • The study areas provided are for quiet study unless otherwise indicated. Please keep conversations to a minimum and be considerate to other customers
  • You may use your laptop in the 'network link' designated areas to reduce disturbance to other customers. If you have difficulty finding the appropriate areas, please ask one of our Library staff
  • You may drink hot and cold drinks and eat cold snacks. If you wish to eat hot food, please go to Cafe Library
  • You may use your mobile phone for silent texting
  • Silent Study Room 2 is designated as a no food or drink and no laptop, mobile phone or technology area. This is an area where students can study in silence. You can drink bottled water

Stairwells:

  • You may use the stairwells for quiet phone conversations
  • Please refrain from eating, drinking or sitting in the stairwells as this is a health and safety hazard

Toilets:

  • You may use the toilets for quiet phone conversations but please go right inside to the main toilet area rather than the lobby entrance to the toilets as this could disturb other customers
