What is a hate crime/incident?

A hate incident is any incident which is perceived by the victim or any other person to be motivated by prejudice against someone’s:

  • Sex
  • Race/ethnicity
  • Religion/belief
  • Disability
  • Sexual orientation
  • Transgender identity
