Find out about Core Maths – new post-16 qualifications

The new Core Maths qualifications are part of a Department for Education initiative to encourage post-16 study of mathematics. The qualifications teach practical, everyday maths skills and are the equivalent of an AS level.

The Core Maths Support Programme is managed by CfBT Education Trust and the team is hosting two free, open events for schools, colleges and sixth forms to find out more about the qualifications.

The events are aimed at schools and colleges that are preparing to teach Core Maths courses in 2015 or that would like to find out more about the qualifications. As well as essential information about the courses, the two events will give schools and colleges the chance to hear from those already teaching the qualifications. Those interested in delivering the courses will be able to find out about different teaching methods, what resources are available and how they can be used as well as meet representatives from all five awarding organisations (AQA, City & Guilds, Edexcel, Eduqas, OCR).

One event is on March 2 at the Institute of Education, London. To register see http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/promoting-core-maths-london-tickets-15533017674
