The third Professional Dialogue seminar organised by WMCETT and the West Midlands HEI Forum looked at equal opportunities and diversity, a subject chosen by representatives of FE college teacher training departments who had attended the second seminar.
The event was held at the Centre for Lifelong Learning at the University of Warwick. The morning session concentrated on the pedagogy and practice of E&D, with discussion around current practice, ideas and approaches and how these are embedded into the ITT programme; the issues trainees encounter in their teaching and the main development needs for the programme, team and trainees; and how you can measure the impact of your programme on trainees and their learners.
The afternoon session was built around sharing equal opportunity and diversity resources, and focused on the activities and resources the participants used which had a significant impact on learning.
Feedback showed delegates found the day enjoyable, and that they had found it "valuable to find out where other people are at with E&D and to find out ways in which people present what they deliver", and had liked "sharing good and bad practice".
Resources shared during the day and supplied afterwards can be accessed via the links to the right on this page. There are also more references to books, further explanation of the resources and details about web-based resources in the report from the seminar which can be read here.
