Inquiry and Research Skills Module

Studying in the UK means engaging critically with your chosen subject and this may be a new way of learning for some students.

Our Inquiry and Research Skills module is a core (compulsory), tailored part of the International Foundation Programme (IFP) and ensures that you develop all the necessary key skills, competencies and confidence to enable you to progress and succeed on an undergraduate degree in the UK. The module is designed to help you become an independent and reflective learner and researcher, who is equipped to think for yourself and practice and apply academic research skills. The module is subject specific and custom-designed for your chosen IFP pathway and to complement your other subject modules.

Key Information

The module content will develop reflective and critical thinking and writing, team-working, independent learning skills, qualitative and quantitative research skills, information literacy skills (library skills, effective internet searching and use of databases) and inquiry skills (asking questions, seeking and analysing answers and coming to your own conclusions). All of these transferable skills will be vital for an undergraduate degree and valuable for your future career.
