WMG hosts a visit from the Indonesian Ambassador

Visit of the Indonesian AmbassadorWMG was pleased to welcome a delegation from the Indonesian Embassy. The delegation was led by the Indonesian Ambassador to the UK, H.E.T.M Hamzah Thayeb, supported by the Education and Trade Attachés, Minister Counsellor and the Chairman of the Indonesia Investment Promotion Centre.

Meeting with Professor Lord Bhattacharyya, The Ambassador and the delegation were interested to understand the breadth of research undertaken by WMG and how WMG develops partnerships with industry and the significant economic benefits of such partnerships. WMG has recently signed an MOU with the Indonesian Institute of Sciences, a key element in which is research collaboration around hybrid and electric systems.

The ambassador and the delegation had the opportunity to take a tour of WMG facilities which included an introduction, by Professor Paul Jennings, to WMG’s research in energy storage, particularly the new Energy Innovation Centre. Dr Ben Wood discussed innovations in additive layer manufacturing demonstrated through WMG’s research at the International Institute for Product and Service Innovation. Finally Dr Alex Attridge showcased the product evaluation and metrology facilities.

In the evening we were delighted to host, at WMG, the Embassy’s event to engage with Indonesian students at Warwick and Coventry Universities.

Professor Lord Bhattacharyya said he was delighted to host the Indonesian ambassador and his colleagues and to be able to show the breadth of WMG activities.
