Core training in modern economic analysis
Our Diploma is aimed at students without a background in economics, and will provide training in the core components of modern economic analysis and appropriate quantitative methods.
Students will acquire the ability to analyse economic problems, both empirically and theoretically, developing knowledge of economic trends, institutions and policy. The Diploma in Economics plus MSc programme is available for those who plan to convert from a first degree subject other than Economics to a Master’s.
3 core modules | 1 or 2 optional modules
LIP5 Diploma: full-time for 9 months
LIPA Diploma plus MSc: full-time for 2 years
For entry to the Diploma course a first degree of at least upper second class standard, or equivalent, is normally required, along with a good ‘A’ level in mathematics or equivalent including algebra and calculus.
Tuition fees 2017/18
The fee quoted above is for guidance only; the University reserves the right to amend its fees.
Please note that 2015/16 LIPA Diploma students who proceed to the MSc will be required to pay fees at the MSc 2016/17 rate in the second year.
Typical career paths
Careers in the finance sector such as accountancy, banking or insurance or in areas such as business intelligence, social or market research.
Those achieving the required standard may continue to the MSc Economics programme.
