Manage forum permissions

By managing permissions, you control who can view discussions, post replies or new topics, and delete posts. You need admin permissions to assign permissions to others for any SiteBuilder page.

Add forum permissions

  1. Browse to the forum where you want to add permissions.

  2. Go to Edit > Edit page permissions:

  3. Under Add permissions, use the radio buttons to select the User you want to assign permissions for, and which Permission type you want to assign:

    • View: Assigned users can view the page but not contribute.

    • Reply to topics: Users with this permission can see and reply to existing topics but not create new ones.

    • Add new topics: Users can see and reply to existing topics and create new topics of their own.

    • Moderate topics: See, reply to and create topics; edit a topic's properties and edit or delete replies.

    • Contributor, Edit, Admin: For more information, see the general details of permission types.

  4. Select the Add permission to page button to apply the permissions to the current page.

  5. In the confirmation pop-up, select Save changes:

  6. When you have finished editing the page's permissions, select Done.

Anonymous posts

If permissions to Reply to topics or Add new topics are given to Any user, whether logged in or not, all visitors to your page will be able to create or respond to topics in the forum. These posts will be attributed to A guest user:

Users who post anonymously will have to complete a reCAPTCHA to confirm they aren't a bot:

Remove forum permissions

  1. Browse to the forum where you want to add permissions.

  2. Go to Edit > Edit page permissions:

  3. In the Current permissions section, select the Remove permission from page button next to the relevant permission to remove it from the current page:

    Tip: Alternatively, select the Remove permission from page & sub-pages button to remove permissions from the current page and any subpages.

  4. In the confirmation pop-up that appears, select Save changes:

  5. When you have finished editing the page's permissions, select Done.
