Besides the teaching, the campus is really really beautiful as well as well orchestrated and large, everything is not so far away from central campus, and the alliance of nature and buildings makes it very majestic in a sense for me. How did you find out about Warwick?

I heard about the university through my course choice in UCAS. Since I got interested about the course rather than the school in itself I did some more research about Warwick and quickly fell in love with the school really.

Did you consider studying anywhere else? What made you choose Warwick?

First of all, the course. Since I was studying a lot of mathematics and economics during my high schools years, I wanted to have a universoty education which followed this path in which I could fully blossom. The MORSE course was fulfilling this very demand and decided to go with it. The teaching and campus life at the University of Warwick also made my choice stronger since it is such a gorgeous campus and has a really good study team with several support ressources for students.

How did you feel to be awarded a scholarship?

Happy and Grateful. This how I describe my feelings when getting my scholarship, it was like getting rewarded by a trophy at the end of a long and rude effort. My efforts were rewarded and made me believe in my own success but also made very grateful for all the opportunities that i had previously and also the ones that are to come thanks to the scholarship.

Who was the first person you told when you received the news about your scholarship and how did they react?

My parents and my sisters. They were my very first support and the first person I told about. It would have felt wrong to not tell them first about the scholarship since they were so supportive during my whole application process and they still are during this year.

How did you apply and did anyone help you with your application form and visa application?

I applied through UCAS. I got very little help with the application process which made me stress in a whole other level since it was, for me, early in the year. This, with last year of high school made me panic so much so that I finished my application process an hour before the deadline!! To whoever reading this and still in high school, take your deadlines very seriously and do your work before hand. However, the visa application although more painful since I am an immigrant and because of covid, wasn't as stressful. Thanks to an organisation I was able to get all of my documents with little stress and then had to wait, and a lot actually, but in the end it eventually arrived, my visa and was again, very happy about that too.

What was your first impression of Warwick when you first walked around campus?

When I first walked around campus I felt mesmerized by the mix of green spaces and buildings in the University. The Sport Hub being bigger than every sport centres I ever saw, the trees during fall season, the lakes in front of the accommodations and the small bunnies and squirrels wandering around the campus made me feel like living in a sort of fairy tale and changed me from the city buildings that I am used to see everyday back in Casablanca.

What is the best thing about Warwick?

The best thing about Warwick would be about how much effort is put in for the teaching and the delivery of classes to the students. I really don't know if it's just me but ever since I started my classes I felt how organised the teaching was and how much support the University is willing to give to their students. What is the worst thing?

I can't think of a worst thing as a really bad problem in the University. Since it just have been a month now I cannot give an opinion about that but if I was to give a little discomfort it would be about the weather. I am from a sunny and hot country and ever since I arrived my hot days became grey and rainy days but it has also its very own charm in a sense.

How is your accommodation?

I live in Bluebell residences and it is an on campus accommodation. I really enjoy my flat mates, how diverse a group of 8 people can be really is something that you wouldn't trade for anything. The room that I have is pretty nice and I feel like I have enough space for everything that I took with me. I also like how it is close to the students union and central campus which makes everything accessible.

Are you a member of any societies?

As of right now I am not in any societies but I am willing to join some of them soon and some sports club too since I am still trying to settle down.

What are your plans when you graduate?

After graduating I hope to continue to pursue my passion of maths and economics and hopefully make a living of it by working in statistician jobs or finance jobs in great positions.

What would you say to someone considering applying for an Undergraduate Global Excellence scholarship at Warwick, what would it be?

The biggest piece of advice that I could give to someone considering applying to the Excellence scholarship at Warwick would be to be aware of your deadlines. I had a huge problem with dealing with my deadlines and something that I would have changed would be how I managed the time allocated to the scholarship. I believe that if maybe I had manage my time better I would've got higher prices so really allocate enough time to this scholarship as it is really a big opportunity for any Undergraduate. I would also add the fact that you should be a 1000% honest with your answers, do not try to lie, to make everything seem as perfect, be blunt, honest and really enjoy your time writing this essays so the people who read them can enjoy you as much. In addition to all of that, do not hesitate to ask for help !! It is really important that your ideas channel well so ask your friends for help in either delivery, grammar, style, etc. And I wish a very good luck to anyone considering this scholarship, the work put through it would be rewarded.

What one thing makes you happy about Warwick?

The diversity, the teaching, the staff, the campus, my course, so many things that me happy about this university and really make feel that I made the right choice about the studying that I will go through as well as the opportunities that I will get in the future. I am very satisfied by my choice really.
