Activity for all

When it’s time to close your laptop, you can make the most of our 65 sports clubs, plus courses, leagues, casual rock-up sessions, and special events. The academic timetable is organised so that Wednesday afternoons are free for sport, so you can make the most of what’s on offer.

You might think you don’t enjoy sport. But university is a chance to try new things, and we’re willing to bet that we offer a few sports you haven’t tried before: Dodgeball? Lacrosse? Ultimate Frisbee? Whether you’re an absolute beginner or a world-class competitor, you can join in at whatever level you feel comfortable.

Gold-standard facilities

We aim to provide you with the best facilities and services to meet your goals. These include:

  • A 25 metre, 6 lane swimming pool, squash courts, a state of the art gym, a performance weight training centre and an aerobics studio – all under one roof at the University Sports Centre
  • Three all-weather floodlit pitches, including a synthetic grass pitch that’s ideal for football, rugby and American football
  • A £2.5 million indoor tennis centre and floodlit outdoor courts
  • A 'Mondo' 400 metre, all-weather running track (similar to the Athens Olympic track) that’s shared with Coventry Harriers and the city of Coventry
  • The Bear Rock indoor climbing centre and specialist bouldering room
  • Three indoor sports halls used for a variety of sports

On top of that we’re creating sporting spaces across campus for experts and amateurs alike. These spaces will have free, convenient equipment for everyone to use, perfect if you find yourself between halls or lectures. We’ll also start work on a new sports centre, featuring everything you’d want from a modern sporting facility.

I am a member of a club called Pick and Mix where we try a different sport each week. So far this term we have tried floorball, fencing, Ultimate Frisbee, athletics, climbing, Latin and ballroom, archery, basketball, and taekwondo. I’m not great at sports but we have a lot of fun trying all these new things!
