Can I use custom HTML and CSS?

Add your own HTML and CSS to individual pages on your site using the raw editor. If you wish to use a custom stylesheet that applies site-wide or custom HTML in your site footer, please send your file(s) to webteam at warwick dot ac dot uk. We can apply these to your site on your behalf.

Raw HTML editor

  1. Browse to the page you wish to edit.
  2. Go to Edit > More > Current page tab.
  3. Expand the drop-down menu alongside Edit centre content (or Edit right content) and choose Raw editor:

    Select raw editor

  4. Select the Edit centre content link (or Edit right content).

Bootstrap elements and grids

Bootstrap is included in the ID7 common website template. You can use Bootstrap's grid system and user interface elements on your own pages – see our test card for examples.

We have several ready-made layouts you can use on your site, say for a home or landing page, based on Bootstrap. If you would like a layout for your site, please submit the page layout request form.

Custom CSS

For those familiar with CSS, you can add your own styles to a page using the raw editor.

For pages in the ID7 common website template, you can use various classes on an element. For example:

  • .full-width makes an element flush to its container's left and right sides. E.g. use this class for a hero image that's 1,170px wide and flush to the left and right edges of the page.
  • .flush-left, .flush-right, .flush-top and .flush-bottom remove default margins from an element.

Site-wide custom CSS

If you wish to use a custom stylesheet that applies to the whole of your site, please send your CSS file to webteam at warwick dot ac dot uk and we'll apply it to your site.

Please note: The IT Services Web Team does not support the maintenance or fixing of custom CSS provided by departments. We upload stylesheets to your site on request – you are responsible for maintaining those stylesheets in the future e.g. should they need updating to be compatible with the common website template.
