The ELITH Project - Energy and Low Income Tropical Housing
With 40% of all energy use and climate emissions resulting from buildings, sustainable and energy-efficient housing is crucial for greatly reducing environmental impacts together with improving people’s quality of life.
While “eco” housing has attracted huge interest in Europe and the richer countries, much less has been done in developing countries and hot climates in general. But with population growth and fast increasing urbanisation, the energy and climatic impacts of housing in these countries are now a major concern. The international ELITH project has investigated solutions to these important issues.
Our academic and research staff work with industry and partner organisations to conduct enquiry-driven, fundamental and pioneering research.
We strive for significant impact to make the world a better place.
