Ri Summer School: Illuminating Engineering

Location: Royal Institution, London

This summer the Royal Institution has an action-packed programme of fun, hands-on educational activities for all ages. Their range of innovative and interactive Summer Schools are designed to bring to life all areas of science, mathematics, computing and engineering. With over 50 sessions to choose from, covering topics from climate change to acoustics, earthquakes to rocket science, forensics, crash-testing and ancient history there is something for everyone.

Some of the RI Summer School sessions are being led by colleagues from School of Engineering / University of Warwick including:

Wednesday 13th August: Illuminating Engineering
(Age 13-15; Time 10am - 3pm)

Modern day manufacturing links together art, science, engineering and technology in order to create new, exciting and bespoke products. With Simon Leigh and Margaret Low, students will explore this through the design and manufacture of a bespoke, interactive lamp, writing the lamp control software and producing a personalised lampshade using digital manufacturing tools.
