Dave manages and administers the Warwick HRI Genetic Resources Unit responsible for the conservation of small-seeded, out-breeding vegetables funded under a Defra contract.  The GRU has acted within the International Genetic Resources network of long-term collections since 1983 having responsibility for Allium, Brassica, Daucus and Raphanus.  Dave participates in the European Cooperative Programme for Plant Genetic Resources (ECPGR) in the Vegetables, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Network and specifically in 5 Crop Working Groups as Chairman of the Allium & Umbellifer Crops groups and UK representative on the Brassica, Vegetable Solanaceae & Leafy Vegetables groups.  Dave manages 2 European Central Crop Databases for Allium and the umbellifer crops.

Warwick HRI Genetic Resources Unit received the Institute of Horticulture Norah Stucken Award for 2006 at the IoH Annual General Meeting in September.
