Prof. Jacqueline Hodgson in Justice committee broadcast

JWWarwick has recently secured an Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) from the Economic and Social Research Council, it is an important strategic development for social sciences here at Warwick, which enables them to create a step-change in their approach to impact. As a result of the IAA funding of just £200 Professor Jacqueline Hodgson, Director of the Criminal Justice Centre in the Law School, together with Warwick doctoral researcher Juliet Horne, sucessfully applied to create a response to The House of Commons Justice Committee enquiry.

As a result of this project Jackie Hodgson was questioned by MPs on Tuesday 13 January when The House of Commons Justice Committee held its first evidence session for its inquiry into the effectiveness of the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), taking evidence from academics and solicitors. You can watch her evidence on Parliament TV.

This project was an opportunity to communicate the product of Warwick research to high-level policymakers and it reflects Warwick Law School's position as a key contributor to the debate around the CCRC and miscarriages of justice. More information on the inquiry can be found on the Committee's webpage.

Impact Acceleration Account (IAA)

The IAA will support a comprehensive portfolio of activities and resources for Social Scientists at Warwick, which will maximise the potential for impact from social science research. They will do this through five pathways; Exchanges, Mobilisation, Training, Translation and Responsive.

For more information about the Impact Acceleration Account see the Faculty of Social Science website or if you have any queries please contact Ronni Littlewood, Faculty Impact Officer on v.r.littlewood@warwick.ac.uk.
