SJTU Global challenge - online programme
15 undergraduate students from across a range of subject areas at Warwick
will team up virtually with 15 counterparts from Shanghai Jiao Tong University
over three weeks between 19 June - 12 July 2023
to consider Issues facing port cities between the 19th and 21st Centuries across the world.

Programme Information:
The programme will consider this year's theme of 'Global Problems in Global Cities'.
In particular how different nations have dealt with different crises and challenges with sessions considering this in the context of Asia, America and Europe in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
Academic experts from SJTU and Warwick will support student groups who will deliver group presentations at the end of the programme.
The activity aims to build students' skills and experience in intercultural communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, virtual group work, managing projects across multiple time zones and presentation.
Approximately 40 hours of structured teaching time. Additional time will be required to undertake group working during this programme.

Warwick Hyperloop is recruiting!

Exploring the link between Arts Interventions and Degenerative Brain Conditions

Can making and experiencing art help maintain a healthy brain? How might art be used to help people with degenerative brain conditions such as Alzheimer’s or dementia?
We know that great art can stir the emotions, but now it looks like it can actually improve brain function, (raise serotonin levels and impact on your nervous system). And these benefits don't just come from making art, they also occur by experiencing art!
In this free event, hear from our fantastic line up of researchers (in rehabilitation medicine and neuroscience) from the University of Warwick who will be joined by local artists, authors, care home workers and representatives from local charities. All the speakers will ignite discussion around the link between the Arts and the brain, and how the Arts can be used to improve the quality of lives of those that have been affected by degenerative brain conditions.

Raise is an award-winning student charity initiative which aims to change the way students think about charity, encouraging students to take a positive and deliberate approach towards giving. Nationally, we have raised over £380,000 for the Against Malaria Foundation in just 5 years by encouraging hundreds of students to celebrate the end of the academic year by making a personally significant donation to charity. Last year we started a chapter at Warwick, and in our first year, we raised over £3000 as well as establishing the foundations of an intimate and passionate community!
Now you have the chance to build on these foundations this year! We’re looking for a team of talented and passionate students (with skills and interest to work in areas such as leadership, sponsorship, publicity, events, and fundraising) to shape and grow this exciting project, forming a committee for the next academic year. UKNEST Scholarship Opportunity 2022/23
UKNEST will be offering 12 scholarships to students studying STEM subjects at UK universities and colleges during the academic year 2022/23. The scholarship scheme offers the following benefits:

Research Invitation
As a medical student, the topic of organ donation is one that has been discussed a few times during my education. However, I would like to explore if it is the same for students studying other courses and investigate whether sciences-based students and arts-based students are likely to have a differing understanding and opinions of organ donation. Since English law changed in May 2020 to an opt-out rather than opt-in system and that there are currently, 5972 people awaiting a transplant in the UK, the topic seems as important as ever.
I am looking for participants to complete an anonymous, online questionnaire to investigate students current understanding of organ donation (i.e. what can be donated and who can donate). Additionally, I am exploring scenarios around life-sustaining treatments and investigations necessary for successful transplants and if this is ethically acceptable to participants.
This has been approved by the BSREC ethics committee.
